What former students say about our programme!

The support provided by the staff at the Centre for Population Health Sciences, in addition to the diverse but comprehensive range of topics studied has equipped me well for a career in Public Health Research. The skills I have developed throughout the Masters programme have progressed my career development ten-fold.

Nicola (UK), 2010/11

The wide range of fascinating taught courses provided me with an excellent base of knowledge and skills to carry out a very interesting dissertation research project. The friendly atmosphere of staff and students combined with excellent teaching and support made this a very enjoyable and worthwhile year.

Studying towards MSc.PH at the University of Edinburgh allowed me to have a greater impact in my chosen career in Public Health area after I finished my studies, increased my knowledge on public health management, enhanced my understanding of prevention and promotion programs, allowed me to build professional relationship.

Ekaterina (Russia), 2010/11

The PHR programme was immensely beneficial for me not only by providing the concepts of public health research but, also giving opportunity for in-depth learning about the research skills and quality in research. I thoroughly enjoyed the teaching process and leaning experience of this course. I appreciate the knowledge, dedication and cooperation of faculty.

Jyoti (India), 2010/11

I absolutely loved the MSc programme; it was exactly what I was looking for. Coming from an Arts background, I needed to retrain in a range of fundamental skills to enable me to move into epidemiological research. The coursework generally started from first principles, and quickly got us all up to standard. The best part of the programme, though, was the dissertation. It was great to have the opportunity to work with an established research team and to put the skills learnt in statistics and genetic epidemiology into practice using real data.

Rebekah (Australia), 2009/10

Edinburgh is a place which will never lose the charm for most of us. The Department of Public Health with esteemed faculty members who I am especially indebted to for all the efforts they made to read and re-read my work. The support and efficiency we had from the administration staff in sorting out all academic problems was credible. The course content was designed to perfection for a diverse group and all elective modules provided opportunities to build upon individual skills.

Neha (India), 2009/10

I completed the Public Health Research MSc course in 2009-2010. I thought the wide variety of modules on offer were excellent, allowing me to tailor the course to my exact interests and needs. The tutors were all very helpful and always happy to provide extra help if needed through a range of teaching methods. The course was well organised and I thoroughly enjoyed my time at The University of Edinburgh.

Sarah (UK), 2009/10

From day one, I enjoyed my Master experience at the Centre for Population Health Sciences. I got profound training in research methods in public health, enjoyed the lectures which opened my eyes for new aspects of the discipline and, most importantly, had a great time with my fellow students from all over the world. The fact that I am now doing a PhD in the department speaks for itself.
