Knowledge Exchange
Knowledge exchange is a two-way process where researchers and the individuals they research, and/or the organisations or policy makers who utilise their research findings, share learning, ideas, experiences and expertise.
In CPHS knowledge exchange is facilitated by a range of strategies. Traditional academic routes include:
- Journal articles, books and conference presentations
- Collaborative research projects
- University degree teaching and research supervision
- Offering training courses
- Organising conferences
- Editorial involvement in academic journals
In terms of engaging with those outside academia, strategies include:
- A public seminar programme
- Contributing expertise to the NHS and professional bodies
- Consultations with external organisations and policy makers
- Press articles
- Interviews within radio and television programmes, and contributing to programme development
- Authorship of popular science books
- Workshops and other events
- Placements and internships
- Commercialisation of novel methodologies (eg analysis software)
